It is important that Christians play a full part in the preparations for the General Election which is due to take place on Thursday July 4th.
There are a number of steps that Christians can take:
- Make sure you are registered to vote, there is more information about who is eligible to vote and how to register on the Dover District Council website.
- Find about the candidates who are standing and what they are saying. You may wish to attend a husting in which case think about the questions that you might ask.
- Pray your way towards the election using the resources mentioned below.
Resources Available
- The Bible Society have created a study guide for Christians to use in the lead up to the election.
- Tearfund have created a two side guide to approaching the election.
- CARE have created a website called Engage 24 full of resources to use when considering all the election issues.
- The Church of England have put together a booklet and a digital prayer journey to pray through the last 21 days before the election takes place. The booklet, Pray Your Part, will be available from June 7th and the digital prayer journey starts on June 14th. To sign up click here
